Government funding does not cover all medical equipment.
The Ontario Government funds hospitals for most operating costs – at CCH, this funding covers over 80% of all costs – but hospitals must generate funds for the remaining operating costs themselves. Parking fees, cafeteria proceeds and other revenue, including private room fees, go towards these expenses.
While the majority of operating dollars flow from the Ontario Ministry of Health, funding for capital equipment is a shared responsibility between hospitals and their communities. We rely on donors’ generosity to purchase state-of-the-art equipment and technology so CCH can deliver first-class care.
