Meet (and pledge!) Amberly Coulter, Registered Practical Nurse (RPN), and Justine Viray-Levac, Coordinator, City of Cornwall.

Amberly: I’m an RPN on CCH’s Acute Medicine floor. Patients stay with us when they’re too sick to be at home, but not sick enough for the ICU. We cover a wide spectrum, serving patients admitted from Emergency or post-surgery, continuing care for those returning from the Heart Institute, supporting individuals with immune or respiratory problems and other health concerns. We see about 2,000 people a year, aged 18 and over, across all walks of life.  

Justine: I’m the Coordinator of Events, Rentals, and Marketing for the City of Cornwall, connecting partners, volunteers, and organizations to make sure our venues are accessible; our events run smoothly, and our city shines. I love seeing our spaces filled with energy because those moments strengthen community ties and showcase Cornwall’s vibrant spirit. Supporting CCH through Dancing with the Stars is another way I’m proud to give back to the city I call home. 

Amberly: I was a PSW before going back to school for nursing at St. Lawrence College. I wanted to show my kids there’s no age limit to education, and there’s always room for growth. I walked into the storm as a graduate at the height of COVID and haven’t looked back.  

I love my job. It’s not an easy profession, so some days you have to remember why you love it. At the end of the day, we’re here for our patients. My goal is always to help people walk out of CCH better than when they walked in. No one wants to be in a hospital, but if you’re here, we’ve got you.  

Justine: Amberly and I have been friends for 20 years. We met in Toronto, moved to Cornwall, and this is our chosen home. We’ve made volunteer work a part of our lives, starting with The Princess Project, collecting prom dresses for local girls, and running Friends with Hearts, bringing Christmas to families in need. This time, we’re ready to make the call for CCH! 

What project are we dancing for?   

We’re dancing for a new defibrillator and five new beds for patients in the Acute Medicine Unit. It’s a busy place and our healthcare professionals need new equipment to serve local patients.

We love this community, we’re having a ball, and hey – we’re moms, too. It’s our time to shine!
